me & photography
i take pictures because i have to. or at least i'm constantly compelled to do so. i often regret not having a camera on hand. my common themes include landscape/architecture/portraiture, minimalism/naturalism/surrealism and their levels of abstraction. i like accidents and discovery. I believe every old camera has a voice.
The photo i chose to represent me as a photographer is an experimental long exposure. i held my finger over the flash to get the deep red of the faces. the models were holding another camera set to auto focus. the flash was covered with a yellow flash filter. the strobe effect of the auto focus combined with camera movement creates the multiple exposure effect. the scene was set in a corn field.
i consider myself anti-photoshop. i find merit in capturing the picture as it's meant to be seen preproduction. most of of my photos are unaltered images. i seek validation as a photographer rather than a designer. although, i am willing to learn because i realize it's necessary as a tool for artists. i would like to learn the technical aspects of photoshop so i can manipulate my photos to their best quality for printing and so forth.
